Week 15: 11/28 - 12/5

I have heard back from a few machine shops and we have kept in contact about stock material we would like to use and their recommendations. We also consulted about how the process would work and how long it would take to manufacture the motor case. Depending on the material and specific machine shop, prices range from $600 to $1000. It would also take about an average of 2 months to manufacture all the parts the motor team needs. I have looked into more machine shops to have more options. I also learned that machine shops will purchase stock material for us at a cheaper price. Depending on which shop we proceed with, prices are going to vary.

Week 14: 11/21 - 11/28

This week consisted of Thanksgiving break. Not much was done for the first half of the week due to dedicated time for family. I am not from San Jose, so it was a bit more difficult for me to work on Spartan Superway. However, I did look into a few local machines back home. I am currently waiting for a response from those machine shops. When I got back on Monday. I checked in with Maker's Space about the request I sent in for 3D printing our motor casing prototype. There were some issues, but we were able to get it in time for our presentation 3. I also set up meeting times for our group to update each other on the progress of the project and future plans before finals and winter break begins. We also met to work on presentation 3 of our project and addressed any issues the group believe might come up in the near future.

Week 13: 11/14 - 11/21

This week I pushed for CAD designs to be completed so we may have 3D printed prototypes for our presentation after Thanksgiving break. I am part of an organization called MEP on campus and they have a 3D printer that members are able to utilize. I filled out all the necessary forms with STL files to have our parts printed. Central Shop has not replied to our inquiry and I had spoken to Dr. Furman about other shop recommendations that would mill out stock for our casing. I have also started looking into local shops and contacted a few about their services and how to proceed with what we want.
